T-Mobile is working hard on its 5G network, constantly deploying more towers to increase its lightning-fast coverage around the country. Alongside a partnership with T-Mobile, Really Mobile is creating its own decentralized network utilizing nodes owned by people all over the country. Right now, Really’s network is only live in Austin, but that will change as it expands its scope and grows over more areas throughout the country. One of the big benefits of a DeWi network is that it doesn’t rely on a huge company to designate areas where the network will grow, rather anyone anywhere can set up a node to start building the network in their area. 

What is a Decentralized Network? 

Perhaps the best way to explain a decentralized wireless network is to start with a traditional communications network, like the above example with Verizon. Can You Bring Your Own Cell Phone?

Yes! REALLY allows new customers to bring their own phone as long as it is unlocked. To bring your device to REALLY Mobile, you must check to ensure that your device is compatible with the new network, but once you double-check it is a go! 

REALLY Mobile Versus Competition

There are loads of wireless providers competing for your attention. Finding the right provider is challenging, but it pays dividends in the long run. Mint Mobile’s unlimited plan (which comes with 35 GB high-speed data) is only $30 a month, far less expensive than what Really has to offer. In order to receive $30 a month for Mint’s unlimited plan, you need to sign up for a year-long contract. If you prefer the flexibility of REALLY’s no-contract plans, then they are a big winner. 

Mint Mobile does offer family plan savings, which lets multi-line plans receive the lowest prices while only taking out three-month contracts. One of Really’s big benefits is that they are contractless, so you pay for one month each month. At Mint, you have to pay the whole bill upfront, which can be a big payment if you buy a year at a time.  

REALLY Mobile vs. Visible

Visible is an MVNO that operates on Verizon’s network, and it is one of our favorite MVNOs in the competition at this time. Their major downside, however, is that they only offer unlimited plans. They have two plans, and both are unlimited. Really is similar in that way. These providers are best for high-data users who will make the most out of their cell phones while out and about.

REALLY Mobile: Review Summary

The Good

• Decentralized Network. Really uses a DeWi network alongside T-Mobile’s network to keep you covered all over the country. Really’s nodes are a great way to build networks in less populated places, keeping their network strong even where T-Mobile’s network is not.
• T-Mobile's network. If you switch to Really, you get to enjoy savings while on T-Mobile’s nationwide network. AT&T has fantastic coverage all over the country, and as a Really Mobile customer, you have access to that without paying the premium to be a T-Mobile customer 
• Become a Host. All Really Mobile customers can install a node on their roof. This is a great way to become a part of Really’s community. You’ll start earning from the moment it’s set up at your home!
• International calling and texting. Really Mobile has services in place that allow users to call internationally with Really’s cell phone plan.

The Bad

• No multi-line savings. Really Mobile does not offer multi-line savings. You get a lot of awesome stuff with their cell phone plan, but each line pays full price. 
• Data deprioritization. It is not a surprise, but your data will slow whenever there is a high strain on the bandwidth in your area. There is no guarantee that it will happen, especially as T-Mobile creates a stronger network, but it is always possible. The frequency of this is highly dependent on your location. If you feel a lot of deprioritization during your day-to-day, you can always switch carriers! 
• No physical stores. This is not a big deal for most, but there is no place where you can bring your phone if you run into issues. There is always 24/7 online customer support if you need assistance! 
• No phone selection. Really Mobile does not have an online cell phone store where you can buy phones already attuned to Really. If you are a new customer, we recommend bringing your phone along as part of the plan. You can purchase phones directly from stores like Best Buy that are not attached to any provider, allowing you to make an easy switch.
• Double SIM. In order to take advantage of Really’s service, you must install two SIM cards on your device. One SIM is for T-Mobile’s network, and the other is for Really’s.

There’s a lot to like about Really Mobile. Excellent network, great plans, and an exciting environment. It’s not all good, of course, but Really Mobile is high on our list of excellent mobile providers.
